Content is King in SEO

Did you know that each page on your site should have between 250 and 1000 words? Less than that and there’s not enough information on the page for Google to assess what the page is about. More than that, and your keywords get watered down and Google stops reading after so many words.

Did you also know that fresh content counts as well? That Google can tell if your site hasn’t been updated in ages?

Do you currently have a site that was developed without the ability for you to add fresh content and to update out of date content? Well it’s time to change that! Contact me and I’ll get you set up with a full content management system for your site that will allow you to keep your site fresh and up to date.

Blogging...

What not to do? Do not start a blog and let it sit for two months before coming back to it. Yes, I am reprimanding myself and at the same time using it as an opportunity to share why not.

  1. Blogs are a way to keep your readers coming back. Your readers may keep coming back for a bit to see if there’s anything new, but if you’re not updating your site they may begin to assume that there never will be updates and will stop coming back.
  2. Blogs are a great way to build content using your keywords and phrases. What are keywords and phrases? These are words that you want to be found for by the search engines. Without these keywords showing up in your site, the search engines are not going to rank you for them. The more your site has these keywords and phrases, the higher keyword density your site will have. Blogs are a great opportunity to talk about what it is you do and by talking about what you do, you’re automatically working on adding more keyword density to your site.
  3. Blogs are a great way to communicate with your audience. Allow your readers to comment. Your customers are the life blood of your business – listen to them, hear what they have to say. Allowing for that conversation is a way to increase a relationship with your audience. And through that relationship building we can build trust – and isn’t that something we all want when we’re looking for businesses to work with?

There are many more reasons to keep your blog up to date, these are just a few.

Set time aside each day, week, bi-weekly. Put a reminder in your calendar. Make it the way you start or end your week. When you come up with an idea to blog about, jot it down so you don’t forget it when the time comes to blog.

So stay tuned… I will be back! And it will be much sooner than two months!
